I won't lie; I've watched A LOT of the World Cup so far. Everyone
says I should be storing up sleep before our baby comes, but the World
Cup is really getting in the way of this ...
One of the things I
love about the World Cup is all the crazy experiences you have watching
it - the adventure of watching it.

Does God LOL? - 2010-02-22

Does God LOL?

Mark Twain once said that ‘Humour is mankind’s greatest blessing.’

I think theirs a lot of truth in that. I love to laugh. It makes me feel good. I love to laugh when I’m at the movies, playing Xbox with my mates, wrestling my two kids and watching the first round of auditions for Australian Idol. In the words of Woody Allen, ‘I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.’

Venue and Planning for 2010 - 2010-02-16

Over the past 12 months the pastors and I have spent much time in prayer, discussion and consultation regarding both the mission God has given our church and our Sunday meeting space.

Throughout this time we have become convinced that the time is right for City on a Hill to adopt a ‘multi-site’ approach to our Sunday gatherings/worship.

2010 Resolutions - 2010-01-11

In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians he urges us to be ‘careful how we live, not as unwise people,
but as wise people making the most of every opportunity.’ (Eph. 5:15).

As we enter a new decade, it is fitting that we take time out to
check our spiritual thermostat and see if this verse rings true in our lives.

From this place of honest reflection we can then move to make
prayerful resolutions to help grow in faith, advance in mission, and honor God with
the days, months and journey ahead.

Here are few points to consider when making
resolutions and the strategies to fulfill them.

Avatar - 2009-12-30

I went to see 'Avatar' the other day. It was a pretty spectacular film
- the CGI was amazing, and the story was pretty interesting, even if it
was little more than a mash-up of about five other movies (Lord of the
Rings, Star Wars, the Ewok adventures ...).What struck me, though, was the philosophies that underpinned it.
